PorchGrab works best when every listing answers the normal questions a neighbor would ask before driving over: what is it, what condition is it in, what should they check, and how will pickup work?
Price, photograph, and describe the item clearly
- Choose a practical price, then adjust for brand, age, missing parts, and how quickly you want it gone.
- Take the first photo in bright natural light, with the whole item visible. Add close-up photos for wear, labels, cords, or accessories.
- Write the listing like a handoff note: size, color, condition, what is included, what is not included, and whether the buyer needs help loading it.
- Mark an item reserved or sold when plans change so shoppers are not guessing.
Keep the exchange local and low-pressure
- Use PorchGrab messages to confirm the item, price, neighborhood, and pickup window before sharing more specific details.
- Meet in a public, well-lit place when possible, or choose a driveway pickup only when you are comfortable with that arrangement.
- For bulky items, agree in advance on who is lifting, whether tools are needed, and how long the seller can hold the item.
- Do not ship items or send money through PorchGrab. Payment is arranged directly between buyer and seller in person.
Inspect before you take it home
- Read the full description and ask about dimensions, scratches, odors, missing pieces, or power cords before committing.
- For electronics, ask the seller to show that the item powers on. For furniture, check stability, drawers, legs, and fabric condition.
- Bring the right vehicle, straps, blanket, cash or agreed payment method, and another person if the item is heavy.
- If something does not match the listing, pause and talk it through before completing the pickup.
